Construction Management is pleased to welcome Steve
Grube as Director of Business Development.
Steve has over 20 years of construction industry
experience, having held executive positions in large
construction management firms and in higher education
facility management. He also served as senior director
of facilities for the Orange County School Board where
he had executive oversight for the design and
construction of over $500 million worth of school
board facilities.
In his new role, Steve is responsible for maintaining
relations with PPI’s clients throughout Florida, and
identifying and opening new markets.
PPI Construction Management is pleased to announce the
appointment of Ryan Taylor as Project Executive for
the PPI Palm Coast office.
A LEED Accredited Professional, Ryan is an experienced
construction manager with a strong record of
delivering public and private sector projects. As
Project Executive he will oversee PPI’s growing
presence throughout the North East Florida area.
PPI Construction Management has been selected by the
School District of Osceola County to build the new
auditorium building at Poinciana High School in
Kissimmee, Fla. The 23,000 square foot facility will
feature concessions, ticket book, stage and drama
classrooms. The auditorium will seat approximately 800
people. The building will be constructed on the
existing Poinciana High School site.
The $4,900,000 building, designed by Schenkel Shultz
Architects, is scheduled to begin construction in June
2008 for completion in February 2009.
PPI Construction Management will begin construction in
June on the new Deltona Regional Library addition.
The project will add 15,000 square feet of space to
the existing library. The new space includes a
multipurpose auditorium, interactive lecture
areas/classroom space, educational displays, a gift
shop and support facilities. In addition, the project
will add an 8,000 square foot Environmental Learning
Center and space for the Volusia County Human and
Veteran’s services.
Construction of the addition is expected to take 11
months and be complete by May 2009.
Several PPI project teams recently “topped out” their
projects. In Orlando, the University of Central
Florida Physical Science building held a topping out
for the University of Central Florida Physical Science
Building, a 68,010 square foot facility for Physics
and Chemistry departments.
In Gainesville, a topping out was held at The Village
retirement community, where PPI/CPC, LLC is expanding
the facility with the addition of two 60 unit,
multistory Independent Living towers. Assisted Living
facilities and a new Marketing building are also under
construction
In Flagler County, crews celebrated the topping out of
the new cafetorium/classroom addition to Buddy Taylor
Middle School and Wadsworth Elementary School. The
140,979 square foot building houses 56 classrooms and
multiple kitchens, dining rooms and multipurpose
spaces to be shared by the two schools. It will also
serve as the largest hurricane shelter in Flagler
County.
PPI Construction Management has been selected by the
University of Florida to build the new women’s
lacrosse facility on the main campus in Gainesville.
The new facility, which will be home to UF’s newest
Division I sport, will feature two practice fields for
soccer and lacrosse and one lacrosse competition
field. In addition, the site on the south side of the
campus will have a locker room and office building,
and grandstand seating and press box. The facility
will be complete in May 2009 in time for competition.
This will be the tenth athletic facility PPI has built
for UF. Another project, currently under construction,
is the Gateway of Champions football offices scheduled
for completion in July.
Two PPI
projects have won major Associated Builders and
Contractors awards. The Seminole Community College
Information Technology Workforce Development Center
won an Excellence in Construction Eagle Award, the
highest award in its category. This recently completed
67,000 square foot facility is a satellite campus at
the Heathrow International Business Center and
features two dozen high tech seminar rooms, classrooms
and an Industry Economic Development Suite for use by
local business partners. In addition to serving as a
teaching location for SCC technology based degrees and
corporate continuing education courses, the facility
will serve as the new headquarters for the Seminole
County Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, the University of Central Florida’s
recently completed Psychology Building received an
Excellence in Construction Award of Merit. This
facility for the Psychology Department and its
associated disciplines includes classrooms, research
laboratories, clinic, faculty and undergraduate
offices and an auditorium. The 75,000 square foot,
three-story structure is constructed with an exterior
skin of curtain wall and brick with aluminum panel
accents.
PPI has been selected to manage the construction of
the new Lake Sumter Community College/Lake County
library project. This 55,000 square foot, two-story
facility will feature general education classrooms,
study areas, library facilities and offices for use by LSCC and the people of Lake County. The building will
be located on the LSCC/UCF satellite campus in
Clermont, Florida.
The Lake County, Board of County Commissioners
recently selected PPI to provide construction
management services for the large, multi-phased
expansion of the Judicial Center in Tavares, Fla. The
project includes 28,665 square feet of new office
space for the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser's
offices, a new 1800 vehicle parking garage, an
additional 288,361 square feet of new space and a
120,620 square foot expansion of the existing Judicial
Center, full remodeling of the existing Courthouse and
a new chiller plant. The facility has Silver LEED
Certification as its goal.
Valencia Community College has selected PPI to oversee
construction of a new VCC/University of Central
Florida Joint Use facility. The project will encompass
100,000 square feet in a new multi-story building on
the west campus. The facility includes computer labs,
classrooms, auditorium and office spaces. The building
will be LEED Certified, with Silver certification as
the goal.
PPI/CPC, LLC officially broke ground on two new
Volusia County Schools in early May. Middle School DD
is a new 169,000 square foot school for grades 6-8,
due for completion in June 2008. The $37M school
campus features a mix of one- and two-story buildings
with associated support facilities and is constructed
as a hurricane hardened EHPA shelter.
Volusia high school DDD is a 353,000 square foot
Schenkel Shultz prototype with 2600 student stations
in multiple three-story buildings. The project calls
for complete site work including tennis and basketball
courts, and football, softball, baseball and soccer
fields. The $95M school is scheduled for completion in
August 2009.
PPI recently completed work on the new Lake Sumter
Community College Science and Math Building. The two-story tilt wall facility provides space for general
science teaching laboratories, classrooms and
administrative space. The 51,000 square foot building
is one of four STH Architects prototype science
buildings being constructed on Florida Community
College campuses.
Construction is well underway on the new football
offices at the University of Florida. PPI is providing
construction management services for the 50,000 square
foot expansion and construction project to Ben Hill
Griffin Stadium. The project includes renovating the
existing weight room and office spaces, renovation and
expansion of the Gator Room, and the addition of a new
prominent “front door” entrance for the National
Champion football program.
