Minneola Elementary School

Owner/Client: Lake County School Board

Location:  Minneola, FL

Completion Date: July 2007

Project Size:  130,000 gross square feet

Project Cost: $ 22,981,985

This replacement is a prototype plan designed by Schenkel Shultz and replaces a small, outdated school facility. The new school is housed completely within one building. It is a two story structure using load bearing masonry and brick veneer as the basic structural element, with a steel frame supporting the second floor. Bar joist metal trusses and a light weight concrete roof deck complete the exterior skin to provide a durable and low maintenance shell. The building is constructed as an EHPA shelter for Lake County.

The new school contains administration offices, media center, cafeteria, art and science rooms as well as general classroom space. The 130,000 square foot facility is the largest elementary school ever built in Lake County.
