Location:  Orlando, FL

Completion Date:  August 2004

Project Size:  95,000 gross square feet

Project Cost: $ 9,450,000

Located off Highway 50 in west Orange County, the West Oaks Elementary School is part of Orange County Public School's two billion dollar K-12 construction program. This relief school was constructed to accommodate the rapid growth of the student population in this section of the county.

The school is housed completely within one building. It is a two story structure using brick faced tilt wall concrete as the basic structural element with a steel frame supporting the second floor. Light gauge metal trusses and a metal roof complete the exterior skin to provide a durable and low maintenance shell.

Elements of the 95,000 square foot facility include an administration suite, media center, cafeteria, art and science rooms in support of the general classroom space.
