University of Florida Pharmacy Wing Renovations

Owner/Client: University of Florida

Location: Gainesville, FL

Completion Date: Jan 2001-2004

Project Size: 90,000 gross square feet

Project Cost: $11,781,436

This phased project for the College of Pharmacy involved renovating, rebuilding and updating facilities throughout the entire six story college building. During phase I, the top three floors of the Medical Science Building Pharmacy Wing were renovated to update research and administrative office space. The space was reconfigured in a generic way to allow flexibility of current and future uses. This included research laboratory space, with core lab support and equipment rooms. The scope of the project also included infrastructure upgrades on the roof and inside mechanical and plumbing chases. Once the first phase was complete, the process was repeated on the bottom levels. Overall this project made spaces throughout the college more useable by providing the flexibility to configure space to meet current needs, while maintaining the ability to respond to changing research programs with minimal physical changes to the facilities.

The entire project was done while the college was being used and school was in session.
