IFAS Aquatic Food Laboratory

Owner/Client: University of Florida

Location: Gainesville, FL

Completion Date: 1997

Project Cost: $1,610,000

What this building lacks in size, it makes up for in its use of space for the facility’ state of the art laboratory spaces This project for the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida presented some unique challenges. Because of its location on campus and the need for extensive relocation of underground utilities the facility footprint had to be reduced when the project was well into design. The PPI team worked closely with the design team and university physical plant engineers to allow some utilities to remain active and under the building while making provisions for future expansion of utilities. The building is approximately 10,000 square feet with facilities in support of research and education in aquatic food sciences.
